Garci

Garci to use 'Hello, Garci' tune in campaign

The “Hello, Garci" tune is making a comeback, this time not to destabilize President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo but to prop up the campaign of the man believed to be behind the infamous poll scandal—Virgilio Garcillano.

This is either being thick-faced, or behaving as an asshole because somebody asks you to run and make a fool of yourself, rather than her.  Or just to make the issues on election fraud a little lighter.

Rosales comment

NDF slams Rosales for calling killings a 'mere speck'

MANILA, Philippines -- The National Democratic Front (NDF) has slammed Manila archbishop, Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, for calling extrajudicial killings under the Arroyo administration a "mere speck" compared to those under the Marcos dictatorship.

Indeed, Rosales should not have made a comment like this.  First, there is a separation of the church and the state.  You can give your opinion about politics.  But don't use the pulpit.  He is forgetting that Catholicism is dwindling now, and that his style of leadership may have clicked during the middle ages in Europe, and the 60s and 70s in the Philippines.  But that was it.

Secondly, raising up Marcos again is begging the issue.  Is he lawyering for the Arroyo government?  Then, don't raise the ghost of Marcos, for Chrissake.

Thirdly, is he contradicting the reports of foreign investigators on extrajudicial killings?  And by how?  By raising something "far worse" as he said.  Far worse and still Filipino.  "Hey, don't make a big fuss out of the murders you see.  That was nothing compared to what happened in the Martial law years.  Here."  Huh?

What's my problem?

‘What’s your problem?’ defense chief now asks nation

MANILA, Philippines -- After asking the controversial question once to a broadcast journalist to whom he had since apologized, Defense Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. is now asking the same question to the public: "What's your problem?"

What's my problem.  You, Mr. Secretary.  And your fellow bastards.

Oreta's version of I'm sorry

‘I’m sorry’ ad won’t do Oreta any good, says GO spokesman

MANILA, Philippines -- The advertisement in which she apologizes for dancing following the prosecution walkout from the 2001 impeachment trial of then president Joseph Estrada will not do administration candidate Teresa Aquino-Oreta any good, the spokesman of the Genuine Opposition said Monday.

I saw this today on the bus.  It was pathetic.  I don't know why people get paid for such stupid ideas.  Whoever told her she should do this is an enemy.  The more she plummeted down.  No one will vote for her now.  On both sides.

Disqualification case again versus Cayetano

Another disqualification case filed vs Congressman Cayetano

MANILA, Philippines -- Another disqualification case has been filed against opposition senatorial candidate Alan Peter Cayetano at the Commission on Elections in Manila. A certain Percival Mabasa filed the case Monday on the grounds that Cayetano lacked the qualifications to run as Senator.

I don't why, but I feel sometimes that it was Cayetano himself doing this.  Hehe.  Just kidding.  This must be the nth time already.  The n+3 rd time.  Whatever.  I will vote for him.  Even though I won't vote.

Arroyo is not a candidate! Huh?

Arroyo not a candidate, says Palace on negative rating

MANILA, Philippines -- Saying President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is not a candidate in this election, her spokesman dismissed a recent survey of the Social Weather Stations that showed a negative public perception of her and her Cabinet.

What a way to defend a negative rating.  She has been in the red for epochs already.  I forgot the time she got a positive rating.

Then, in the end, all her allies will win in the elections.  How cute.
