Described as diminutive, this 76-year old guy is now dead. I don't know why but there is a sense of sadness in me just imagining how he tried to hold on to that door while stronger guys ran and saved themselves. He did not care for himself.
Somehow, he reminded me of my father. I would imagine him doing the same at such a fearful moment. I cry now because I know he loved his students dearly. I cry now for the insanity of what happened in Virginia Tech. I cry now because I envy the heroism of this teacher. And hope that, given the same situation, I would not cower in fear, but rather shine with the armor of courage fit for the gods.
Live forever, Liviu Librescu! And may your soul find peace in the bosom of the Almighty.
