Strong quake strikes off Indonesia

JAKARTA -- A strong 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit off Indonesia's northern Sulawesi province on Tuesday, geologists said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

Strong quake hits Afghanistan


KABUL -- A powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Hindu Kush region of northeast Afghanistan on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said, putting its depth at some 200 kilometers (125 miles) underground.
